"So, am i going to get a hand thrown at me sometime soon?"
A soft voice spoke into Marietta's ear, the curls around her ear blowing as he spoke.
This soft voice belonged to none other than Adrian Pucey.
Time had changed Adrian Pucey dramatically. No longer was he the slightly chubby-faced creature who had followed Marcus Flint around like a sad little puppy-dog and wished nothing more than to do great things as a Chaser. Instead Adrian had gone native on a trip to Northern Wales and found out who he really was. He was strong, he was handsome, and he knew what he wanted and got it. This meant anything. Nothing had a limitation for him.
So far he'd managed to charm his way into the lives of three idiot women who actually thought they would be worth his time. After a month of marriage he killed them and took all their belongings, making him a very wealthy and very wanted man. But for some reason he was able to slip past the authorities at every oppurtunity.
He always played the broken hearted fool, the lonely creature left to fend for himself in the world but unable to. Why, he was but a lowly trader, what money had he? What chance had he at making it off the streets?
While he was trading he went native even more, not shaving if he were intending to go out for a week, putting on a slight lisp, but once business started he revealed his true form. A woman would always take pity on a lowly trader, buy one of his goods. She always returned, called back by his soft words of gratitude and approval at her generosity, and then he would smooth his way in. He'd let her clean him up, give him a chance, and soon she would fall right into his trap, seduced by the fact that she had saved this man from a horrid life. Women wanted nothing more than to change a man, he knew that and used it. It was then that he'd start. He'd take control, he'd make her his slave, and then he'd kill her before she got a chance to get away. It always worked. Everything worked for Adrian Pucey. Everything he touched turned to gold.
But robbing idiot women was one thing. What he had got himself into now was much bigger. He was out for the one thing he hadn't got yet. Unforetold and unquestionable power over everyone in the magical realm, it was his dream. And he'd use everything he had to get it. Everything he knew. And everyone he could waste.
Adrian had been sitting in a dark corner of the Leaky Cauldron for almost an hour before he saw the beautiful creature he knew very well enter and order, the poor waiters basically tripping over each other to get to her. None of them had any chance. Adrian knew the games that Marietta Edgecombe played, he played them too. By all accounts Marietta was Adrian's equal, but, in other senses, even better. She could charm anyone, even the smartest man.
Adrian glanced at the paper over her shoulder. "Anything interesting?" He asked, hoping for news that one of those goddie-goddies had been killed.
He took a seat across from Marietta and stared up at her, making the longing for her very obvious in his eyes. He needn't try it with her though, they knew the game too. That was why they were such a good team.
